Study Background
Problems with muscle movement in one side of the body (hemiplegia) are a common stroke after-effect. This paralysis or weakness can affect the face, arms, legs, or on rare occasions, the entire body.
The aim of this study is to assess the efficacy of a novel treatment approach utilizing
the ReIn-Hand device (patent submitted). This treatment is specifically designed to
enhance the reaching and grasping ability of stroke-affected arms and hands.

Additional Information
The purpose of this study is to test the effectiveness of a new treatment aimed at improving upper limb function in stroke survivors.
You may qualify for this study if you meet the following criteria.
Inclusion Criteria:
Inclusion Criteria:
- 21-80 Years Old
- Had a stroke and are now past at least 6 months from the first symptom
- Stroke affected upper limb (arm, hand) on one side of the body
- No motor/sensory impairment in non-affected limb
- No history of neurologic disorder other than stroke
- Are willing and able to travel to downtown Chicago for intervention sessions
This study includes:
- 3-4 in-person pre-intervention visits for testing eligibility/clinical assessments and brain structure and function
- 24 training sessions, each session lasting approximately 2 hours
- 3-4 post-intervention visits that are the same as the pre-intervention visits
Compensation of up to $20 per hour is provided for your participation in this study.
There is no cost for you to participate in this study. Participants will be reimbursed for public transportation/parking costs during study sessions.
