Join a Brown University research study evaluating if a customized mindfulness course helps address minority stress and promote mental and sexual health. Mindfulness-Based Queer Resilience (MBQR) is a 10-week, Internet-delivered mindfulness intervention program designed to promote mental & sexual health for LGBTQ+ people. This clinical trial is enrolling young adults for a version of MBQR tailored specifically for gay men, bi men, queer men & non-binary people who were assigned male at birth. We all experience stress, confusion, anxiety, and difficult emotions in our lives. Mindfulness is a practice that helps you to bring presence, kindness, and friendliness to your experience. A great body of literature has shown mindfulness to support solid mental health coping skills and enhance self-compassion and resiliency. During the program, you will receive free training in meditation, mindful movements, and in directing mindfulness-based skills towards enhancing things like stress recovery, sleep, resilience, cognitive performance and social relationships. The practice will be tailored to LGBTQ people and discussion will also focus on how to best apply mindfulness in queer life — to facilitate self-love and self-acceptance, build queer resilience, improve sex positivity and sexual well-being, and build healthy, authentic relationships. The mindfulness class is typically offered at $500 in the community but is offered freely to you if eligible for the study. No previous experience with mindfulness is required. Enroll today!
