About this research study:
Researchers are studying how an FDA-approved medication (Dupixent) affects skin cells in struggling with moderate-to-severe eczema.
Eczema, also known as atopic dermatitis, affects over 31 million people which is approximately 10% of the population. The condition often times has a severe impact on people's lives. People suffering from eczema may have skin inflammation and dryness, itchiness, bumps, and scarring.
This research study being conducted by physicians at the University of California, San Francisco will investigate how the FDA-approved medication affects your skin cells. Taking part could help improve your eczema and inform how we care for people with eczema in the future.

Additional Information
The FDA-approved medication Dupixent is an approved treatment for eczema but little is known about the effects on your skin cells. This study aims to understand more how this medication reduces skin inflammation. Taking part could help improve your eczema and inform how we care for people with eczema in the future.
You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria.

- Currently have moderate-to-severe eczema
- Have had eczema for at least 3 years
- Are at least 18 years old
- If female, do not plan to get pregnant during the year-long study
If you are screened and able to take part, you will:
- Conduct multiple visits at the UCSF campus
- Meet with the study team at UCSF throughout the study
- Take the Dupixent medication for 1 year (costs covered by UCSF)
- Give small skin samples over the course of the study
- Have a skin swab and give a stool sample to check for bacteria
- Wear a small skin patch on your back for a few days to test for allergies
Compensation up to $480 is provided for participation in this study.
There is no cost for the study medicine or study tests.
